[dinifti] dinifti cannot find slice distance

Oh boy, that's very old. The latest version is 2.29.1 ("dinifti -V"). 
Why don't you try to grab the latest and see if that works:

    32 bit: http://www.cbi.nyu.edu/Downloads/dinifti.linux
    64 bit: http://www.cbi.nyu.edu/Downloads/dinifti.linux64

The first was build under Fedora 14, the second with CentOS 5.6.
Let me know how it works out.
