Next semester, there will be a practicum opportunity for students who are considering clinical neuropsychology as a career and would like to gain experience in neuropsychological test administration. This practicum would require 6-10 hours per week throughout the semester. In the beginning, you will be taught how to administer IQ, memory, visuospatial, language, attention, and executive functioning tests. Eventually, with enough proficiency, you will be given the opportunity to administer these tests to individuals with neurological syndromes. This is a unique opportunity to learn about brain and behavior relationships and to develop a valuable skill set. This practicum would be particularly relevant for advanced undergraduate students and M.A. students. There is the potential to extend the practicum into the summer or next year if students are interested in gaining more extensive clinical experience or developing a research project. If you are interested, please forward a cover letter and CV to Karen Blackmon, Ph.D. at karen.blackmon at nyu.edu.
